Discover The Two Types Of Cremation Services To Pick From

Posted on

A lot of people are surprised to learn that there are actually two types of cremation services to pick from when they go to the funeral home to make final arrangements for their deceased loved one. If you are considering cremation for a deceased loved one or you are thinking about pre-planning your own cremation funeral, you will want to read the following:

Full-Service Cremation

The full-service cremation option is probably the one that most people think of when they think of cremation. With this option, there is usually at least one viewing, if not two or three if a lot of people are expected to stop by to pay their respects. Even though the body will be cremated, it will be embalmed before the viewing. This is to help preserve and delay decomposition so the viewings can take place. After the viewings have been completed, a funeral ceremony can take place and once everyone is gone, the deceased will be taken to the crematorium where they wait their turn to be cremated. Once the process is completed, the family can retrieve the ashes of their loved one.

Direct Cremation

The direct cremation option is meant for those that do not want to have a viewing or any special ceremony before the cremation takes place. By simply allowing the process to skip right ahead to the actual cremation, the bill will not be as large. After all, embalming is not needed and you do not need to purchase a casket. Even if you wanted to purchase a casket for a viewing before the cremation, the casket does not go into the crematorium. The deceased simply go into a long cardboard box. Friends and family of the decease can always arrange a memorial service at another time as a way to honor the life of their dearly departed.

As you can see, there are a few good reasons to pick either of the two cremation services. What you will need to do is to make sure that you are taking time to speak with loved ones to get a consensus on what everyone thinks is the best option to pick. You will also want to take a look around to see if there is a last will and testament that the deceased had written by an attorney. Within that document may be information regarding how they want their cremation services completed.
